Caption

"I was on my way back to France, and Paris, after a difficult reportage in the northern region of Mali, where a group of Tuaregs had entered a rebellion against the government.

It was such a relief to be able to focus on beauty again, beauty of the trivial, like some rafts on a river, at sunrise. To be away from the pain of men and the violence of guns.

This long journey across the country to Bamako was a long mental monologue, fed by road side coca-cola and goat cheese sold at the bus' windows."
